(INDIANA) - While many people will be chasing Black Friday deals, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources wants you to trade the shopping cart for a trail.
As part of "Opt Outside Day," the DNR is offering free admission on Friday to all 24 state parks and several other state properties. Friday also marks the season opening of the toboggan run at Pokagon State Park in Angola, a longtime holiday favorite.
If you take part in Opt Outside Day, you can enter drawings for 2026 DNR annual entrance passes, Outdoor Indiana magazine subscriptions, camping and Inns gift cards, and Smokey Bear and Opt Outside gear.
To boost your chances:
- Share your photos from DNR properties on social media using the hashtag #OptOutsideIN2025, and tag the DNR or the property you're visiting.
- Or complete the Opt Outside Scavenger Hunt form at on.IN.gov/optoutside and email it to SPContests@dnr.IN.gov for a separate prize drawing.
