(STURGIS) - The City of Sturgis continues restoring electric service to their customers following the June 11 storms.

City Manager Andrew Kuk says as of Sunday night, outages for Sturgis Electric customers stand at 600 as crews continue to work with mutual aid partners to restore power. He says while great progress has been made in restoration, there is still a lot of work to be done and the City will continue to provide updates on progress and important related information.

A reminder that areas with downed trees and lines may be dangerous, whether in City streets, sidewalks, parks, or your own yard. If you find this kind of situation, please stay back from any downed line at least 25 feet and generally exercise caution in these areas.

Sturgis Public Safety, in partnership with the State of Michigan 5th district will be offering free oxygen tank filling today from 2 PM until 4 PM. Residents must bring their empty oxygen tanks with them as staff will not be providing tanks. Residents should enter the City parking lot from behind the library and drive between city hall and the public safety department to the red trailer.

In addition, the City compost sight will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 12 PM until 7:30 PM.
