LaGrange Co. Council Holds Budget Hearings

(LAGRANGE) - It was a busy Monday for the LaGrange County Council who held budget hearings for 2027.

One of the presenting agencies was The Arc of LaGrange County, a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization that has been working on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their families in LaGrange County since 1966. Arc of LaGrange County is committed to provide opportunities to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to help them develop their unique potential and encourage meaningful participation in the community.

Due to rising costs and the increased need Deb Semen from ARC asked the Council for in increase to their budget for 2027. She respectfully asks for a continued partnership between ARC and LaGrange County by funding 3% of ARC's $7.3 million annual operating budget, which would be $204,404. (LISTEN ABOVE).

In addition, the LaGrange County Commission asked for a 5% increase in salaries for County employees in the upcoming year.

The Council will take the recommendations under consideration and present the 2027 budget during a future meeting.
