(STURGIS) - A fire over the weekend did damage to a commercial building on the north side of Sturgis.
The Sturgis Department of Public Safety Fire Division was called to the 900 Block of North Clay Street just after 4 PM Saturday for a report of smoke coming from a commercial building. Mutual aid was provided by the Tri-Township Fire Department and Burr Oak Fire Rescue.
Responding units found heavy smoke throughout the building and worked quickly to contain the fire.
The building sustained substantial interior damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is still being investigated by the Sturgis Fire Marshal.
