(COLDWATER) - Charges have been filed against a Coldwater man for allegedly making threats to carry out violence against community targets and law enforcement.

Branch County District Court officials say 28-year-old Michael Young was arraigned on charges of terrorism and a habitual offender enhancement due to a prior felony conviction.

Online court records say the threats were made Sunday as Young was being transported by a Branch County Sheriff's Deputy from Portage to the Branch County Jail. Young allegedly made detailed comments on his plans to plant bombs at the Branch County Courthouse, the Coldwater Police Department along with other locations around Coldwater.

Court records show that police say Young threatened to commit murder, mass violence and kidnapping against law enforcement officers. They say Young also said he would research how to make bombs and execute attacks after he is released from custody.

Young's bond is set at $250,000.
