(UNDATED) - The Michigan State Police and Indiana State Police are both taking part in a national initiative this weekend.
Both agencies are participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday. It's an event that is designed to encourage people to safely dispose of expired and unused prescription pills.
All 31 of the Michigan State Police Posts will be open to accept unwanted medications. All collected pills will be destroyed, no questions asked. Liquids, inhalers, patches and syringes will not be accepted.
In Indiana, liquid medications will be accepted along with pills at all of the State Police Posts. In addition, vaping pens without batteries and vaping cartridges will also be accepted.
Anyone unable to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day can anonymously surrender prescription drugs at any Michigan State Police Post, Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 4 PM, excluding holidays.
The Prescription Drug Take Back will run from 10 AM until 2 PM on Saturday.
