(STURGIS) - Sturgis City Commissioner Cathi Abbs has broken her silence on what's been happening with the City.
Wednesday night during the City Commission meeting Abbs spoke about what this whole situation has cost the Commission, City Staff and the community.
Abbs says the public has experienced disbelief, disappointment, deception and anger resulting in a loss of trust which is the foundation of any relationship. She says it sickens her to think that many if not most of the citizens have little or no confidence in the leadership of the City Commission, but unfortunately, she says they have earned it. Abbs says it's now time for the Commission and the City to put all of this behind them. Abbs says this chapter must be closed. She says the residents elected the Commissioners to serve them, the true owners of the City. Abbs says it's her sincere hope that each of the Commissioners will commit to working together collaboratively for the betterment of Sturgis.
Abbs says she hopes that the training that has been talked about for the City Commission will take place sooner rather than later.
