(UNION CITY) - An over 30 year career in law enforcement has come to an end for a member of the Union City Police Department.

The Village of Union City announced on their Facebook page that Assistant Police Chief Corey Wilkinson has announced his retirement.

Wilkinson started his career in law enforcement in 1992 with the Union City Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. Then in July of 1994, he became a certified full-time police officer following his graduation from the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Police Academy.

In 2015, Corey was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, then one year later he became the Assistant Police Chief, and remained in that position until his retirement.

Wilkinson will be formally recognized by the Village of Union City at a gathering in January to honor his decades of service.
