(MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead following a two vehicle crash in Mottville Township.

Michigan State Police were called to investigate a crash that happened at 9 PM Wednesday. Troopers determined that an older model Mercedes passenger car was traveling east on U.S. 12 near Vistula Road. The car crossed the center line and struck a westbound semi head on.

The driver of the car, 41 year old Eric Herald of Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s not known if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The semi driver, a 47 year old man from Ontario, Canada, was not injured and was wearing his safety belt.

Assisting troopers were the White Pigeon Police Department, the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department, the White Pigeon and Constantine Fire Departments and Life Care Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
