(CONSTANTINE) – The Village of Constantine is looking to go after a State grant.
During a recent meeting the Constantine Village Council voted to pursue a grant through the State’s MI Neighborhood Program. If approved, it could be a grant up to $400,000. Clayton Lyczynski, the St. Joseph County Human Resources Commission Housing Coordinator told the Village Council that the Michigan State Housing Development Authority still has $11 million out of $30 million still available to be given out.
The grants would be given out in the form of Community Development Block Grants.
If Constantine is able to get the grant, they would be able to help residents who are in need of home repairs such as roofs, furnaces and energy efficiency improvements.
A second round of funding will be released in October.
