(CENTREVILLE) – Sentencing for a Sturgis woman charged in the death of her two year old daughter has been adjourned.
21 year old Paige Bohne was scheduled to be sentenced Friday in St. Joseph County Circuit Court. However, St. Joseph County Prosecutor Deborah J. Davis told Swick Broadcasting that the sentencing has been adjourned and no new date has been set.
Bohne agreed to plead no contest to charges of first degree child abuse and assault with intent to do bodily harm. With that agreement, charges of murder and conspiracy to commit child abuse were dropped.
On November 7, 2024 at 12:47 PM, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on West U.S. 12 for an unresponsive two year old inside a residence. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced dead.
The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and as the investigation progressed, Bohne was taken into custody on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, which was later amended to open murder.
The plea agreement is contingent on Bohne providing truthful testimony about another individual involved in this matter. If Bohne fails to comply with all of the conditions of her plea agreement, then the plea will be withdrawn and a trial will proceed.
