(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools received a clean report on their audit for the 2024-2025 school year.
During a recent Board of Education meeting, Matt Kelley of Plante-Moran presented the annual audit report. He said that Sturgis Schools received a clean or unmodified opinion on their audit, which is the highest opinion that can be given.
Kelley shared the revenue and expenditures for the 2024-2025 school year with the Board of Education. ...... {LISTEN}.
Kelley highlighted that the majority of the revenue, approximately 58% or $24 million, is based on the per pupil funding that it received from the State of Michigan. The biggest part of the expenditures, which is 74%, goes to salaries and benefits. That’s slightly higher than the 2023-2024 school year when it was 71%.
Kelley says the School District was able to add $1.3 million to their fund balance during the 2024-2025 school year.
