(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) – Minor injuries were reported following a car v deer accident.

The Branch County Sheriff's Office says at 7:40 PM Tuesday, deputies were sent out to an injury accident on East Union City Road near River Road in Girard Township.

Deputies determined that a man who was driving had been trying to pass another vehicle when he struck a deer. The driver lost control and his vehicle rolled onto its side.

The driver was not injured. A woman and a juvenile who were passengers did receive minor injuries, and were treated at the scene by Life Care Ambulance.

Also assisting deputies were the Coldwater Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind motorists to use caution when driving in areas with high deer activity, particularly during evening hours.
