(THREE RIVERS) – It’s an end of an era for a Three Rivers organization.
During their final meeting of 2024 last week, the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation recognized longtime Executive Director Melissa Bliss, as the organization prepares to merge with the Sturgis Area Community Foundation, effective January 1, 2025.
Bliss has been the Executive Director of the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation since 2011, and will be stepping down at the end of this year. Under her leadership, the Three Rivers Foundation has grown from a modest organization with assets of $1 million to an active institution with $5 million in assets. Melissa’s vision and hard work have elevated the Community Foundation, establishing it as a pillar of the community.
Key milestones of Bliss’ tenure include significant contributions to major community projects such as the Three Rivers Sports Complex and the trail system. Her legacy also includes the establishment of sound policies and procedures that have helped ensure the Foundation’s long term sustainability and growth.
The partnership between the Three Rivers and Sturgis Area Community Foundations has been a significant chapter in the Foundation’s story. Bliss worked in laying the groundwork for this merger for many years, setting the stage for a new, unified organization poised for even greater success in serving both communities.
Three Rivers Community Foundation Board President Christy Trammell says they are grateful for everything Melissa has done for the Foundation. Trammell says Bliss’ dedication and leadership have been essential in shaping the Foundation into what it is today.
Even though she is stepping down as Executive Director, Bliss will remain an active and valued part of the Foundation as she transitions to serving on the Board of Directors.
