(HOWE) – An early morning crash claimed the life of two people.

LaGrange County Chief Deputy Sheriff Juan Arroyo says deputies were called to a crash in the area of the 300 East block of State Road 120 at 12:10 AM Monday.

Deputies determined that a vehicle was heading east on State Road 120 and for an unknown reason went off the road and struck a tree.

The driver and one of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne by Lutheran Air with head trauma and internal injuries.

It’s believed that alcohol and speed are factors in the crash which is still being investigated.

Assisting at the scene were the LaGrange Police Department, Howe Fire and Rescue, Parkview EMS and the Indiana State Police.
