Michigan’s Unemployment Edges Down In June

(LANSING) – Michigan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate went down from May to June.

Data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says the State’s jobless rate decreased from 5.4% in May to 5.3% in June. Employment receded by 4,000 over the month and the number of unemployed people fell by 6,000.

The biggest decreases over the month were in Professional and Business Services (-1.4%); Manufacturing (-0.7%); and Retail Trade (-0.4%).

Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director for Michigan’s Center For Data And Analytics says the State’s unemployment rate declined for the second consecutive month in June, a sign of labor market stabilization during the second quarter.
