
Southern Michigan Unemployment Rates Go Up In February

(LANSING) – Most Southern Michigan counties saw an increase in their unemployment from January to February.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says St. Joseph County actually saw a drop in their unemployment, going from 6.3% to 5.8%. Branch County saw a slight increase from 5.2% to 5.4%. Cass County grew from 6.1% to 6.3% while Hillsdale County went up from 6.2% to 6.4%.
Statewide, the unemployment rate went from 5.9% in January to 6% in February.
The lowest unemployment rate in Michigan during February was in Livingston County, growing from 3.8% to 4%. The highest unemployment rate was Mackinac County, rising from 21.6% to 23%.
