(ANGOLA) – The City of Angola is reporting they have a combined sewer overflow.
Angola Wastewater Treatment Superintendent Jeff Gaff says they had a combined sewer overflow that started at 9:59 PM Wednesday, and stopped at 12:15 AM Thursday.
Gaff says they measured 2.16 inches of rain Wednesday with a peak intensity of 1.68 inches.
Gaff says they started the CSO again Thursday, when Equalization tanks filled up at 3:50 AM and are still overflowing.
The Angola Wastewater Treatment Plant maintains a sanitary sewer that is combined with storm sewers. As of January 1, 2012, less than 5% of its sewers are combined. During long periods of constant precipitation or periods of acute, heavy rainfall or snow melt, the sanitary sewage collection system may surcharge and a combined sewer overflow may occur.
Gaff says he will update the community when the CSO is done.
