
Michigan Man Arrested Following Police Chase In Indiana

(FREMONT) – A Michigan man was arrested after leading police on a chase around northern Steuben County.
Steuben County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Meeks says just after 6 PM Saturday, a deputy observed a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Toledo Street in front of Fremont High School, and driving recklessly.
A traffic stop was initiated near the Fremont Eagle One Stop. The driver of the motorcycle, stopped briefly, and then fled west on Toledo Street at a high rate of speed.
A vehicle chase started and went in and around Fremont and Fremont Township before heading west into Jamestown Township. The suspect then led deputies and other officers to Pokagon State Park where it ended on a trail near County Road 500 North.
The motorcycle driver, identified as 20 year old Anthony Cerget of Rochester Hills, Michigan was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Steuben County Jail on a felony charge of resisting law enforcement using a vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.
Cerget was able to post a $3,500 bond and was released. The matter is still under investigation.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division.
