(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured in a crash that happened in Silver Creek Township.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach says at 9:19 PM Friday, deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of M-51 and M-152.

The investigation shows that 70 year old Kerry Darrigan of Decatur was heading north on M-51 when he approached a vehicle that was stopped on M-51 at the intersection of M-152.

The uninvolved vehicle, which did not remain on scene, gave a hand signal for 31 year old Chase Henricks of Geneva, Illinois, to cross east over M-51 from M-151. Darrigan passed the stopped vehicle on the right as Henricks was crossing the intersection. Darrigan swerved his vehicle, resulting in the crash.

Darrigan’s passenger, 69 year old Cathy Darrigan, was taken by SMCAS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Everyone was wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

Assisting at the scene were the Sister Lakes and the Wayne Township Fire Departments.

The incident remains under investigation.
